Guide to the M. L. Rosenthal Papers ca. 1930-1996 MSS 45
Macha Louis Rosenthal (1917-1996), poet, critic, editor, and teacher, was born in Washington, D. C. With an M.A. from the University of Chicago, he came to New York University where he earned his Ph.D. (1949) and was a professor of English until 1996. He also served as director of the Poetics Institute at NYU. Besides publishing numerous books of criticism, collections of verse and contributing poetry, articles and reviews to The New Yorker, Poetry, the Spectator, he served in the U.S. Cultural Exchange Program from 1961-1980 and was visiting specialist to Germany, Pakistan, Romania, Poland, and Bulgaria, Italy and France. He also was poetry editor of The Nation, the Humanist, and Present Tense and edited various anthologies of poetry.

Guide to the Papers of Edith Shepard Fabbri 1842-1898 (Bulk 1886-1898)
Correspondence, photographs, notes, clippings, ephemera, and other materials of Edith Shepard Fabbri, as well as her family, friends, and associates. Fabbri was the great-granddaughter of "Commodore" Cornelius Vanderbilt, and the granddaughter of William H. Vanderbilt. These materials pertain to her early adult life, in particular, the early years of her marriage through the birth of her first child. Also included are materials relating to the House of the Redeemer, a religious retreat founded by Edith Shepard Fabbri and located in her former New York City home.

The Keppler Family Papers, 1840-1956, contain the miscellaneous personal papers of Joseph Keppler, cartoonist and founder of Puck Magazine and of his son, Udo J. Keppler, later known as Joseph Keppler, Jr. They consist of correspondence in English and German, dealing with Puck, cartoons, personal and family matters, and a wide range of other papers and printed ephemera.
The collection consists of the records of the Ladies' Christian Union, an organization that provided affordable housing to young women in New York City. It documents 150 years of efforts to assist young women working and studying in New York City.

The Martha J. Lamb Papers contain a variety of material relating mostly to Lamb's professional life as historian, author, and editor. Much of this collection pertains to Lamb's tenure as editor of the Magazine of American History (1883-1893) including submissions, letters from readers and contributors, and correspondence dealing with internal production matters. The collection also contains letters received by Lamb regarding her work as an historian and author, a journal (1878-1879), and material for a number of Lamb's articles and addresses, including clippings, reviews, drafts, notes, correspondence, and proofs, and drafts of her History of the City of New York. Material in this collection also relates to activities of the Huguenot Society of America, various historical societies, scientific organizations, trade groups, social clubs, and the charitable societies of the Madison Square Presbyterian Church. In addition, the papers contain poetry, notes, financial and genealogical material, ephemera, visual material, and artifacts.
Scrapbooks, indices, monographs, articles, and correspondence comprise an archive for the Bella C. Landauer Collection of Business and Advertising Ephemera at the New-York Historical Society as well as for other collections of Landauer's that she deposited at other institutions.

Guide to the Papers of DeWayne Lundgren 1942-1945
DeWayne Lundgren, a Brooklyn, New York resident, was a private in the United States Army, serving in the 830th Signal Service Company during World War Two. After training in Fort Monmouth, NJ, he was posted to Africa and England 1943 - 1945. This collection contains approximately 232 letters from DeWayne to his girlfriend, Bertha Doktor, plus newsletters from Africa, The Stars and Stripes clippings, and a few of Bertha's letters to DeWayne.

Lawrence Winston was an African American United States Navy sailor who served aboard the USS Mugford and the USS General M.M. Patrick during World War II. The USS Mugford, a destroyer, was stationed at Pearl Harbor during the attack on December 7, 1941. This collection contains approximately three hundred and fifty letters written by Lawrence Winston to his wife Cecelia Winston, including forty V-mails.

This collection contains approximately one hundred and thirty three letters, most of which are written by David Span to his parents, Joseph Span and Jennie Span, and to his brother, Murray Span, who was serving in the United States Army. There are also letters from Murray Span to their parents, as well as several letters to Murray from friends of his who were also serving in various branches of the Armed Forces.
